CLINICS BEGIN SUNDAY, MAY 5TH
MSSL Parents,
There are critical roles every team needs to fill in order to host swim meets this summer. Unlike other sports, it takes approximately 50 volunteers total from the two teams to run a meet. A meet referee, a Starter (announcer of events), at least 2 Stroke and Turn Judges from each team, 3 timers per lane (number needed differs depending upon the number of lanes at the meet host pool which can be 4, 6 7 or 8 lanes), 2-3 scorekeepers, volunteers to get the swimmers ready for their events known as ready bench parents or age group parents, a volunteer coordinator, and concession personnel. Some teams may also opt to have an event board volunteer, but that position is being retired as the SwimTopia Maestro Mobile app now works in conjunction with our Dolphin watches providing current information.
Clinics start this Sunday, May 5th at the Jewish Community Center. Be sure to check the MSSL website Home page for the times and room numbers. Your team needs YOU to volunteer and support your children's team this summer at dual, tri, Championship, and All Star Meets. Be prepared to volunteer to help as these positions offer the best view of the pool this summer league season! It means so much to your children that you are participating on their behalf!
